Alternative team bonding

Options at the opticians'

A colleague of mine, G, told us how he's had several pairs of (prescription) spectacles from an optician in Dhaka: he started buying them several years ago because he couldn't get prescription lenses for his cycling glasses in Australia.  Apparently quite randomly he popped into a shop in Dhaka and got what he was looking for, for and excellent price and service, so he's been returning frequently.

G was coming back to pick up his new lenses today, and three of us decided that we'd like to investigate new glasses options.  We all brought our current glasses with us, and the opticians are matching our new lenses to these.  As far as we can tell, they're doing a brilliant job.

Negotiating for new glasses
Of the three of us who bought frames and lenses today, P, who went first, paid BGT 3,500 (about AUD 50).  I went second and paid BGT 3,000, and J, coming last, paid only 2,500.  I was a little disappointed there weren’t more of us to see how low the price was going to get.  The service is also amazing: all three of our prescription glasses will be ready tomorrow afternoon, about 24 hours after we bought them.

I've done a lot of team bonding in strange places before, but this is certainly the first time I've done it in an opticians'!!

Future new glasses!!
